Prepared Childbirth Class


This 6-week series focuses on preparing for the birth of your new baby. Content includes:
  • relaxation techniques
  • breathing techniques
  • anatomy and physiology
  • the birthing process including physical and emotional responses to labor
  • common/routine procedures
  • the role of your coach
  • the postpartum psychological and physical recovery process

The fee for the class is: $40.00 per couple

Pediatric Safety and CPR Class

Conducted by GCMC's CPR's instructors, the class is designed for new parents, grandparents, and caregivers and will focus on pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the artificial breathing and artificial circulation of blood to sustain life in a non-breathing, pulseless victim.  During the class, a person is trained to recognize and treat the non-breathing victim.

Baby Basics

Being a parent, grandparent, or caregiver to an infant or toddler can be hectic at times.  We all find ourselves with occasional questions.   GCMC's registered pediatric nurses will offer information on adjusting to the changes that occur during the first weeks after the baby's birth.  A variety of techniques will be offered to assist in bonding, sleep patterns, feeding (breast and bottle), diapering, bathing, and safety.

Breastfeeding Class

The following topics will be discussed during this class:

  • the benefits of breastfeeding
  • how to begin breastfeeding
  • how to position your infant to the breast
  • the problems encountered and treatments available  while breastfeeding
  • special breastfeeding situations

These classes are held every other month at Grove City Medical Center and are taught by a Maternal Child Health registered nurse who is also a certified Breastfeeding Counselor.

Please bring a doll or a stuffed animal and a regular pillow or a Baby Boppie pillow.

Baby and Me

A class for soon-to-be big sisters and brothers prepares children, ages 3-10, for the arrival of the new baby.
