Essential to the delivery of prompt, effective medical treatment is a diagnostic mechanism of the same caliber. Grove City Medical Center’s Medical Imaging department is equipped with a wide range of technology and staffed by a diverse group of skilled professionals. Combine these elements with an organizational commitment to progress and vision, and the result is a dynamic service, continually evolving to meet the needs of the hospital’s physicians and patients.
Among the specialized medical imaging services provided by Grove City Medical Center are:
Nuclear Medicine
CT (CAT) Scan
Ultrasound
Fluoroscopy

Nuclear Medicine
A nuclear medicine image or scan involves the intravenous injection of a small amount of radioactive tracer. After a waiting period, which varies by procedure, a technologist takes images from several angles with a scintillation camera. Since the radioactive drugs are very low concentration, few patients experience side effects or reactions, and the exposure to radiation is about the same as that of a chest x-ray. Nuclear medicine tests performed include: bone scans, renal scans, and stress tests.
CT (CAT) Scan

A CT scan is a painless method that takes a series of cross-sectional or 3-dimensional images of a patient's body and organs. CT is particularly useful when a physician requires a precise localization of physical abnormalities for CT guided biopsies.
Ultrasound (Sequoia)
A sonogram uses sound waves to examine various parts of a patient’s body. A microphone-like instrument called a transducer is scanned over a patient’s gel-covered skin. This painless procedure produces obstetrical, abdominal, cardiac and vascular studies.
Fluoroscopy
“Fluoro” is real time radiographic imaging of the internal organs. Fluoroscopy is especially useful in producing images of the gastrointestinal tract, most often focusing on the stomach and colon.
Mammography
Mammography is the examination of breast tissue. The medical imaging staff at Grove City Medical Center is especially sensitive to the emotional as well as the physical discomfort commonly associated with a mammogram. Several registered technologists are dedicated exclusively to the area of breast imaging, ensuring proper positioning and adequate compression. The result - accurate visualization of breast tissue and the most comfortable exam possible.
MRI (1.5 Tesla)

With an MRI, or Magnetic Resonance Image, a physician can examine and evaluate a disease process without using radiation. Instead, a magnetic field, radio waves and computers construct graphic slices of the body, producing remarkably detailed images of a patient’s anatomy that reveal changes in tissue chemistry.
DEXA Scan
A DEXA scan is a bone density screening that takes only a few moments. It is painless and offers an excellent screening tool for the early detection of osteoporosis. This screening measures the density of the mineral calcium in the bone.
Angiography
An angiogram is a study of the blood vessels, which uses an injectable contrast medium to make them visible. The image produced is used to detect, diagnose and aid the treatment of heart disorders, stroke and diseases of the blood vessels.
All exams and interpretative impressions are performed by the board certified radiologists of Lucien Diagnostic Imaging group.
