GCMC to sponsor "Donate Life" program

More than 6,500 Pennsylvanians are on the waiting list for a lifesaving organ transplant. CORE, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Gift of Life Donor Program, has launched a new statewide donation awareness campaign, “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Power.” The educational campaign was developed to clarify misperceptions about tissue and organ donation in an effort to encourage more people to consider organ donation. Featuring the true stories of both donor families and transplant recipients, the campaign utilizes a wide assortment of media to convey the message, including community presentations by CORE representatives.

On Wednesday, November 8, Grove City Medical Center will host Matthew Niles of CORE in the hospital’s education center at 6 p.m. Niles will discuss the importance of organ donation as well as the process for becoming an organ donor. He will also clarify and dispel commonly mistaken ideas about organ and tissue donation.

This program is free and open to the public, however space is limited. To make a reservation, contact Community Relations at 724-450-7191.
