GCMC Opens New Lab Draw Site; Earns Medical Laboratory Accreditation

Beginning Monday, November 28, accessing out-patient lab services will be even easier for Grove City area residents. Grove City Medical Center, which currently operates two lab-draw sites in the Grove City area, has established a third location for the convenience of patients visiting the Pine Medical Center at 675 North Broad Street Extension, just north of the hospital. The move to open another location, according to Robert C. Jackson, Jr., CEO of Grove City Medical Center, was designed to “make access to healthcare services even more convenient for patients in this community.”

The two existing Grove City area sites are located within the hospital and at Family Healthcare Partners at 420 Hillcrest Avenue. The Hospital also operates lab draw sites in Slippery Rock, Sandy Lake and Clintonville.

Staffing the new Pine Medical location is Dorothy Jones, a licensed phlebotomist and 20-year employee of Grove City Medical Center.

The new site will be open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Patients need only bring their physician’s orders and health coverage information to access services there. For more information, contact 724-458-5269; the fax number is 724-458-5691.

In other related news, Grove City Medical Center ’s laboratory services recently completed its bi-yearly inspection by the American Association of Blood Banks, which resulted in continuing accreditation. The inspection process involves an AABB medical technologist conducting a full day’s on-site visit to the lab, reviewing procedure manuals and standards. The accreditation, which is voluntary, reflects GCMC’s commitment to maintaining the level of medical, technical and administrative performance that meets or exceeds the standards set by AABB. The GCMC blood bank is managed by Jenilee Schiestle, a 20+-year employee.

“Earning AABB accreditation is an honor,” said Kerry Malloy, Director of Laboratory Services. “We’ve maintained it for over 20 years, and that’s something to be very proud of.”
