Chemotherapy
For those who are dealing with cancer, having a resource
close to home for ongoing chemotherapy treatments can help
support a positive attitude. Under the direction of
hematologist-oncologist Dr. Edgardo Lob, patients may
receive their chemotherapy treatments or blood transfusions
at times that suit their schedules, from Monday through
Friday in convenient15-minute increments, with friends and
family nearby.
With the multitude of concerns that come along with a
diagnosis of cancer, traveling to Pittsburgh for treatment
isn’t among them. For more information about Grove City

PET/CT Scan
Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography, or
PET/CT, is one of the newest, most advanced diagnostic
imaging procedures used to identify cancer.
PET/CT technology combines the functional information of the
body obtained through PET with the precise anatomical
information of the body obtained through CT in one exam.
PET/CT scan can often detect disease processes before a
physical change can be seen by CT or MRI alone.
The PET/CT exam is safe and painless, using a radioactive
sugar substance that has no known side effects. The
radiation exposure level is safe. The PET/CT scanner records
the signals released by the radioactive sugar after it has
attached to the targeted cells within the human body. A
computer then reassembles the signals into actual images—the
first pictures ever to show both functional and anatomical
disease processes in one scan.
