Shelly Somers, MSN, DNP, CRNP-FNP recently earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Robert Morris University. Somers, who provides primary care for the patients of Grove City Medical Center's Clintonville Health Center, has been with the organization for over 20 years. The Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at Robert Morris University is newly accredited, and she is among the second group of nurses to complete it.

As part of the requirements of her Doctorate program, she developed a capstone project, which was the implementation of a successful men's health program at Clintonville Health Center, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Grove City Urology.

Somers began her nursing career after receiving her diploma as a Registered Nurse from Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. After several years as a staff nurse, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University and then completed a combined Masters of Science/Family Nurse Practitioner program through Slippery Rock and Clarion Universities in 1999. Somers is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, which qualifies her to treat patients of all ages.

As a nurse practitioner, Somers has provided patient care at a number of private medical practices in Mercer County as well as dedicating her services to caring for women through Family Planning Services of Mercer County.
