Grove City Medical Center is sponsoring an art contest for middle school students studying at the 6th to 8th grade levels, in an effort to encourage them to think about the importance of healthy lifestyles and the positive impact they have on our families and our communities. Students in the following districts are invited to enter the contest: Grove City, Mercer, Slippery Rock, New Wilmington and Lakeview, and home schooled students within those school districts are also invited to enter.
Submissions must be original 2-dimensional work, illustrating the theme: Healthy Families, Healthy Communities on 8.5" x 11" paper, formatted either landscape or portrait style. Acceptable media are: watercolor, acrylic, oil, pen and ink, pencil, chalk, pastels or markers. Media that may smear or otherwise be damaged through handling should be sealed using a spray sealer. Judging will be based on quality, originality and creative interpretation of the theme.
Entrants should include the following information on a separate sheet of paper attached to the submission with a paper clip—do not staple: title of work, artist's full name and date of birth, artist's mailing address, artist's telephone number, parent's name and signature and a one-sentence description of the work. Entries should be mailed, unfolded, to Grove City Medical Center, Attn: JoAnne Clobus, 631 N. Broad Street Ext., Grove City, PA 16127 by April 30, 2011.
All entries become the property of Grove City Medical Center and selected artists will be asked to sign a photo release permitting GCMC to display them in the hospital and on www.gcmcpa.org. The 12 winning entries will decorate a 2012 Grove City Medical Center calendar, and those artists will receive Premium Outlets gift cards.
Judging will take place the week of May 9th and winners will be notified by mail. A special event will be hosted at Grove City Medical Center to honor all of the artists. For more information, contact 724-450-7192. |
