Understanding Your Hospital Statement and Insurance
You were asked to provide information about your health care
insurance by the hospital’s admitting department upon your
arrival here. This enables us to bill your insurance carrier
for your care. If you do not have health insurance or your
coverage does not cover all of your care, Grove City Medical
Center will bill you directly.
Your Hospital Charges
GCMC charges a daily rate for hospitalization, which
includes nursing care, meals, housekeeping services, linens,
medical records, maintenance, local phone service, and basic
cable. We also charge for supplies and services in addition
to the daily rate, including medications, special equipment,
laboratory tests, surgery, etc. If you have health insurance
coverage, GCMC will submit a claim directly to your
insurance carrier. Most insurance plans cover your medical
services; however, you are responsible for payment of any
co-insurance, deductible and/or non-covered services applied
to your account. If you are uninsured and admitted to GCMC,
we will assist you in applying for medical assistance.
Professional Fees
Your hospital bill does not include charges for the services
of your doctor, surgeon, or any consulting specialists, such
as the anesthesiologist and CRNAs who attended to you during
surgery or the radiologists who interpreted your x-rays.
These doctors will submit separate charges to you and/or
your insurance carrier.
Medicare
If you are admitted to GCMC under Medicare, you were asked
to show your Medicare identification card upon arrival. We
ask that patients covered by Medicare be responsible for all
deductibles as well as any co-pays and services not covered
by Medicare.
Insurance Coverage
You were asked to show your current insurance identification
card at the time of your admission to the hospital. You were
also asked to give permission for your insurance company to
pay us directly for your care. If you are a member of a
managed care plan and you have been admitted for an elective
procedure, you are responsible for obtaining prior
authorization from your primary care physician or insurer
prior to being admitted. If you were admitted due to an
emergency or urgent situation, GCMC will contact your
insurance carrier for authorization. If needed, we can
assist you in making these contacts. Depending upon your
coverage, you may also be responsible for a co-payment,
deductibles and/or non-covered services.Financial
