UNDERSTANDING YOUR BILL
Understanding Your Hospital Statement and Insurance
You will be asked to provide information about your healthcare insurance by the hospital's registration department upon your arrival. This enables us to bill your insurance carrier for your care. If you do not have health insurance or your coverage does not cover all of your care, Grove City Medical Center will bill you directly.

Your Hospital Charges
Grove City Medical Center charges a daily rate for your inpatient hospitalization, which includes nursing care, meals, housekeeping services, linens, medical records, maintenance, local phone service and basic cable. We also charge for supplies and services in addition to the daily rate, including medications, special equipment, laboratory tests, surgery, etc. Charges for outpatient services are based on specific services provided. If you have health insurance coverage, Grove City Medical Center will submit a bill directly to your insurance carrier. Most health insurance plans cover your medical services; however, you are responsible for payment of your co-payment, deductible and/or non-covered medical services applied to your account. If you are uninsured, we will assist you in applying for medical assistance.

Professional Fees
Your hospital bill does not include charges for the services of your doctor, surgeon, or any consulting specialist, such as the anesthesiologist and Certified Registered Nursing Assistant (CRNA) who attend to you during surgery or the radiologists who interpret your x-rays. These doctors will submit separate bills to you and/or your insurance carrier.

Medicare
If you have Medicare, you will be asked to show your Medicare identification card upon arrival. Patients covered by Medicare are responsible for all deductibles, co-payments and services not covered by Medicare.

Insurance Coverage
You will be asked to show your current identification card upon registration at Grove City Medical Center. You will also be asked to give permission for your insurance company to pay us directly for your care. If you are a member a managed care plan and are having an elective procedure, you are responsible for obtaining prior authorization from your primary care physician or insurer prior to receiving services. If you are admitted as an inpatient for an emergency or urgent situation, Grove City Medical Center will contact your insurance carrier for authorization. Depending upon your coverage, you may also be responsible for a co-payment, deductible and/or non-covered services.
